Saturday Shorts: 100% Organic
A little late today, but better late than never. Crypt TV has been popping up a lot in my YouTube feed, as it’s scary season. This week, our short kept popping up, and was worth more than one view: 100% Organic. The film is billed as being gory, but honestly, I’ve seen way worse. Still, it’s worth some warning: this one has more gore in it than some of the other films we’ve covered in the past. You’ve been warned.
What I liked best about this was the one-two punch of poking at the audience. On one hand, it takes a human and places that man into the shoes of livestock. This film is a vegan’s dream: it displays the horror of being slaughtered alive for human consumption. To this effect, the film knocks the cavalier attitude of turning a blind eye to where you food originates. In the same breath, it manages to then poke fun at the farmer’s market stands. It’s not like anyone unwittingly buys a steak and cooks it without realizing that their special organic beef is actually a guy named Steve from Rhode Island – there’s a finger that gets munched like a lollypop by a Fortune 500 type. That’s a pretty scathing look at those who are doing the buying. To make a horrible pun, it’s food for thought.
Happy Saturday. I’ll show myself out.
