Saturday Shorts: Bored
Ah, vacation. A chance to rest, relax, unwind… and potentially get bored out of your skull. For anyone that’s either dealing with kids that are complaining of boredom or enduring extreme boredom yourself, this one’s for you: Daniel Purse’s 2012 short film Bored.
I don’t know what appeals more: the capture of the stages of boredom, or the use of Grieg’s “In the Hall of the Mountain King.” I’m a boredom eater, so the scene with the chips… yeah, that hit a little too close to home. Likewise, “In the Hall of the Mountain King” has an air of mischief to it that I adore. The best of all, though, is the mispelling of the word “bored,” followed by the caret to correct it. We’ve been there, kid. We’ve all been there.
And with that, happy Saturday.
