Saturday Shorts: Vagina Vacation
I managed to pick up my first submission this week! Exciting days, I tells ya. There it was, bright and shiny in my inbox, waiting to be viewed. It’s best not to give too much detail to this one, other than be prepared to ask yourself, “Huh?” Here we go: Vagina Vacation.
Can I just say how much I love the fact that this short went after the Quiverfull movement? For those of you unfamiliar with it, this is a religious offshoot that teaches women to never say no to sex and just pump out baby after baby. Don’t get me wrong, I love babies; I’m just not a fan of the idea of my vadge becoming a fucking clown car. I’d love a large family, but to be honest, 18 seems a bit… steep. At that point, people start making jokes about your uterus storming off and slapping you in the face as it leaves. It was great to see a short have the chutzpah to take this idea and make it literal. The personification of a vagina that can’t handle one more birth throwing up its hands and declaring a need for a break… that’s magic right there, folks.
One more thing: the dig at the needs of the spouses was great. A whiny, slightly smarmy husband that suddenly realizes that he’s not getting any until the rogue body part returns (then complains about how it impacts him and claims ownership) was a good slap to those guys out there that think about how a partner’s health issue impacts them first. Makes me grateful for the good guys I know that wouldn’t do that.
Happy Saturday, and see you at the live tweet tonight!
