Trailer Tuesday: The Clapper
If I’m being completely honest, I really thought that the title of this film was a reference to an STI. Goes to show you just where my head is lately. Anywho, the trailer for this week is The Clapper, an Amanda Seyfried-Ed Helms vehicle. It’s about making ends meet, finding love, press harassment, and instant infamy. Check it out.
This… does not look bad. The thing that strikes me the most is the whole cheap date thing. It’s not necessarily a bad thing, especially in this economy. While it’s nice to go out to a fancy restaurant and get dolled up, sometimes, the belt’s tighter and you can’t afford it. I know some couples that feel bad about this, but I think it needs to get reflected in our movies what dating is starting to look like for more and more people. I’m tipping my hat to you, Millennials. Outside of that factor, the film looks to be relevant and well-acted. Seyfried is one of those actresses that consistently works, and I like watching what she brings to a performance. She’s not a flashy “look at my lip fillers and boobs” type, which is refreshing. Personally, I’d like to see her and Emmy Rossum do a frustrated office workers comedy, but that’s a post for another day.
I’m not sure when this one comes out. It looks like it already had a limited release in early 2017, but it’s getting a larger one in early 2018. Stay tuned.
