Hi, my name is Nika (pronounced NEE-kah)!  Erin was looking for some guest bloggers and I figured it was a good chance to do some writing of my own.

Let me begin by introducing myself.  I am a 30-something Lesbian Trans-woman.  I am a consumer of many forms of media, including TV, Movies, Video Games, and YouTube – all of which I plan on covering in future installments of this column.  While I’ve known I was Trans for most of my life, I’ve only come to accept it recently.  I am in the very early stages of transition (the change from one gender to another).  This is an exciting way for me to begin stretching my sexy woman legs.

I plan to focus on Trans issues in movies, TV shows, and video games with this column.  I plan on keeping it Cis-gender (non-trans) friendly with explanations of the terms I use.  It has taken me years to understand and learn most of the terms used in the Trans community, so I will try to keep it simple for others as well.

I have compiled a list of things I plan to cover in the coming weeks.  The Wachowski’s (the directors behind The Matrix) will probably come up multiple times, as they have both come out as transgender.  I plan to cover sources that have Trans characters, such as Sense8 (Netflix TV show), Transparent (Amazon Prime TV show), and The Danish Girl (2015 movie).  I also plan to cover sources that I feel have a heavy transgender undertone, such as Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and The Matrix.  I’ll also probably throw in some things that don’t appear, on the surface, to have anything to do with being transgender.
