Saturday Shorts: 20 Seconds to Live: Astaroth
A few weeks ago, I covered Ben Rock’s 20 Seconds to Live entry “Climax”. At the time, I recommended that you go ahead and watch the other entries. This week, I’m revisiting the series. Not because I can’t find anything else to cover – far from it. This week, I got to show someone the entry “Astaroth” and errupted into a fit of laughter. So, here you go.

I don’t know what gets me more: the nostalgic shots of the bunny hopping around, or the poking of the demon with a broom (and the accompanying smoke that rises from the corpse). Again, points to this team for packing in the humor in under three minutes; that can be tough to do in a short time frame, yet the 20 Seconds team comes through once again. The simple substitution of a word could have gone south quickly, but luckily, they settled for the demon dropping dead. It didn’t even come off like an Army of Darkness parody. It was its own. Unexpected, logical, hysterical. Genius.
