Trailer Tuesdays: Colossal
I’m not the biggest fan in the world of Anne Hathaway. I do enjoy her, but I need to have small doses. Luckily, she’s been kind of quiet lately, which means that I’m ready for another dose. What better way to celebrate the return of Our Annie with a Kaiju comedy? Check out the trailer for Colossal.
On the business end of things, we have Nacho Vigalondo, who’s had his hands full in recent years in the way of establishing himself as one of cinema’s cool kids that knows all the good underground bands. Vigalondo gave us Timecrimes in 2007 and Extraterrestrial in 2011; in fact, he’s been tapped to do some adaptive work for Mark Millar. Couple that with the Hathaway, and I think we’re going someplace that’s both familiar and fun. Let’s face it: Anne is best when she’s the lovable klutz, A.K.A. Mia Thermopolis. We like it when she falls down and lands on her ass, because she makes it relatable and winsome. After the nightmare that was the Les Miserables Oscar campaign, we totally needed a break to remember just why we liked her in the first place. I’m holding out hope that this is going to be the flick that reminds us of how funny she is. We could all use a bit of funny nowadays.
