Trailer Tuesdays: Stranger Things Season 2
One trailer that was conspicuously missing from the bonanza coverage last week was the trailer for Stranger Things season 2. That was done on purpose, as I was planning Stephen King week over here. Yes, I know, Stranger Things isn’t technically King, but – and there’s always a but with me – King was a massive influence on both the show and its runners, the Duffer Brothers. Fun trivia: the Duffers were in the running to have a hand in the forthcoming It. I think it’s safe to say that a lot of the King universe required of such an undertaking, right down to the tropes and shared world, are being felt here. Let’s take a look, shall we?
I like that Will is getting to be far more of a player in this, rather than an entire season of Mike pining for Eleven. I’m also watching (and re-watching) for different references and what they could possibly mean for this universe — more on that tomorrow. Right now, I’m seeing different things for Thriller, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Ghostbusters and even some Aliens action, which didn’t happen until 1986. The Duffers have some good things planned, and I for one am excited.
