So I was going to post something nice about how on Mother’s Day, I remember the women who are yearning to becoming parents; this year, I direct you to read up on how some wonderful, resilient people may feel with a constant reminder of the fact that they got stuck with a real dud of a mom. To all of my friends that have endured that unfair hand, I salute you. I can’t give any good words of comfort. One friend – who has been wonderful and has never once made a snide comment about my own decision to have children (you wouldn’t believe some assholes) – made a comment today apologizing for being gruff. Nope. Not a hint of it. Though it does give me an excuse to break out a particular meme…

So this week, we’re going to give some shit and take the heat off of a movie that’s gotten some shit. First up: I hated The Handmaiden. There, I said it. Some people want to toss this movie’s salad – personally, it needs to shower a bit longer before we get anywhere near that stage of the date (hint: I’m not even springing for dessert). I did, suprisingly, like I Am The Pretty Thing That Lives In The House, which some people absolutely loathed. So that’s our week sorted.

Now, on to some administrative stuff. Next week, my personal life is going to impact the site, which I try valiantly to avoid. I’m moving, which means that quite a bit will be in chaos. I should be back the week of Memorial Day in the States, but for the handful of people that read this, know that there will be a break. Until then, enjoy my saltiness this week.
