Saturday Shorts: Deadpool/Beauty and the Beast Parody
As many of you know, I hate musicals. I loathe and detest musicals. I have openly spoken of this part of my personality in the past. However, that doesn’t stop me from sitting through them for the sake of my children. Children, you had better put me in a really good nursing home one day for all this. So when Dan sent me a link to a parody of Beauty and the Beast (almost typed “Beauty in the Beast,” which is an entirely different film), I flinched a bit… until I saw that it was mashed up with Deadpool.
Awwwwwww yisssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss.
Here’s director Julian Higgins’s Deadpool Musical. Make sure you stick around for the post credits.
Normally, I hate singing in movies. This, though… this is magic. It combines guns, sarcasm and decent special effects to create a parody for the smartass that hates this genre. With Beauty and the Beast currently dominating the box office, you knew that a parody was going to come sooner rather than later. This is perfect, because it’s a sly wink to those of us who have had to unwillingly attend that film. It’s nice to have the freedom to have that represenation not only as the voice of dissent, but as the voice of a life devoted to sarcasm.
Some people may hate on this because it’s fan-made. I’m not one of those people. I found it clever, and it’ something Ryan Reynolds would totally get behind.
Happy Saturday.
